These foliage plants grow leaves arranged along fronds which unfurl from a central underground rhizome.

Leaves will generally be green although some variegation of white/cream may be seen in some varieties. The leaves will also vary in shape and texture across the range of various ferns.

Ferns prefer bright, indirect light. They typically thrive in shaded or partially shaded areas, making them excellent choices for indoor spaces with filtered light or outdoor gardens with dappled shade. Avoid direct sunlight, especially intense midday sun, as it can scorch the delicate fronds. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water ferns when the top inch of soil feels slightly dry to the touch. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely, but also prevent water from pooling in the saucer beneath the pot, as this can lead to root rot.
