Cryptanthus, commonly known as Earth Star, is a genus of tropical plants native to Brazil. These plants are known for their striking, star-shaped rosettes of leaves, which come in a variety of colours and patterns, including shades of green, red, pink, and silver. Cryptanthus plants are relatively small, typically growing to about 6 inches in diameter, making them ideal for indoor containers and terrariums.

Cryptanthus thrives in bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct sunlight, especially in the morning, but too much direct sun can cause leaf burn. In lower light, the colours may become less vibrant. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Cryptanthus enjoys humidity, so misting the leaves can help, especially in dry indoor environments.
