Carnations (Dianthus caryophyllus) are classic, fragrant perennials prized for their ruffled, sweet clove-scented blooms and grey-green foliage. Ranging in color from white, pink, and red to yellow and deep purple, they thrive in garden borders, pots, and cottage-style landscapes. They are also famous for their incredible vase life, making them a staple choice for cut-flower arrangements.

Carnations prefer full sun. However, in warmer climates, should be protected from the afternoon sun.

Plant in light, fertile, and well-draining soil and water deeply once or twice a week, allowing the top layer of soil to dry between watering. Always water at the base of the plant and keep foliage dry to prevent fungal issues.
